The Jacksons are an Afican-American family from Gary, Indiana, whosemember were among the most successful andinfluential figures in modern popular music. Sales cleck/housewife Katherine Jackson and stell mill worker Joseph Jackson (Ex-member of an R&B band called "The Falcons" band with is bother Luther)raised their nine children in a two bedroom house under strict Johovah's Witness rules. Well-known for being strict, Joseph Jackson has later been accused by his children for abuse.

Each Jackson child found some level of popular success in the R&B, pop and blues musicial scenes. The six male children in the Jackson family each served tenures in am R&B / Soul band known as The Jackson 5 or The Jacksons, which was the best selling act on Mowtown during the early 1970s. Michael and Jermaine went to to have significant success as solo performers, with Michael becoming the most successful black solo performer in popular music history. Rebbie and LaToya Jackson enjoyed brief periods of musicial success, while Janet went on to have lasting and successful career in music.
